Your video never leaves your browser
Extractune extracts audio entirely on your device using WebAssembly. The video you select is never uploaded to a server, and the extracted audio is never stored by Extractune — it exists only in your browser's memory until you download it or close the tab.
Song identification is the one exception
If you choose to use the “Identify song” feature, a short (~20 second) clip of the extracted audio — never the original video — is sent to our server, which forwards it to AudD, a third-party audio recognition service, to identify the track. If a match is found, we also request lyrics from LRCLib, a free lyrics database. Neither the clip nor the result is stored after the request completes. This only happens when you explicitly tap “Identify song” — never automatically.
What we do collect
We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics (page views and whether an extraction attempt succeeded or failed) to understand how the tool is used. This does not include the contents of your files, filenames, or any personally identifying information tied to what you process.
